Making Movies

Ever thought about becoming a porn star?

These days subscription fan sites make it easy for content makers to upload and share material, making you a nice bit of extra pocket money or even a living from it!

Maybe you just want to make movies for the fun of it, reading the comments on my videos has always been an inspiration to me and I’ve made many online friends this way.
So here’s a few tips on getting started making your own movies how you can make them a cut above the rest!

Lights…

So let’s start with lights as this really is one of the most important aspects of shooting an indoor home movie,

of course natural day light is best so try and film on a bright day with plenty of light coming in through a window, avoid direct sunlight though as this can create harsh shadows on your skin.

Consider an additional LED filming light, essential for shooting on an overcast day or for placing on the opposite side of your natural light source to even up shadows.

LED ring lights have become popular recently with content makers, but ensure it is powerful enough as many of them are just designed for v-loggers to light up your face from the desk. The best option is to go for one with its own power supply rather than USB powered.

My preference is for an LED panel light as it has a higher density of LEDs yet takes up very little more space. Set it up on a tripod for best results.

My Kit: 40 watt Neewer LED panel light provides the perfect lighting for indoor filming, with adjustable brightness and colour temperature

Camera…

It’s perfectly possible to film a great movie on a decent mobile phone these days, especially if you have good lighting as mentioned above.

However phones will always be limited by the size of their camera sensor meaning they wont perform so well in the lower light generally found indoors, also using the better rear camera means you wont be able to see the screen as you film meaning you could end up being only half in shot and miss out on the key action!

So if you’re serious about making movies then a dedicated camera with a flip out (or up) screen is a very worthwhile investment!

When choosing a camera looks at the specs to find the sensor size as generally the bigger the sensor the better. My preference is the Panasonic Lumix G range of camera as they are a good combination of ease of use, affordability, sensor size and compactness.

Lumix cameras are also very geared towards the movie maker rather then just stills photography.

One more essential bit of kit that won’t cost the earth is a tripod, it doesn’t have to be an expensive one but will help to keep your footage perfectly smooth and allow you to angle your camera to get that perfect shot!

I have a floor standing one plus a table top tripod with the legs that can twist to wrap around objects, perfect for that unusual angle or to to slip in your pocket when out for a walk then wrap around a tree branch when you suddenly get the urge to film that naked pissing scene in the woods!

The compact size, vari angle screen together with the option to attach different lenses and great audio quality make a winning combination!

My Kit: Flexible tripod

Fantastic for slipping in a pocket and filming outdoors or wrapping round the bedpost for that arty close up!

Tip! I often film my movies on a Hi-Key mode, (usually found in the scene menu of your camera) this gives a more dream like quality and less harsh shadows which is more flattering.

Action!

So you’ve got your lighting sorted, you’re camera all set up on its tripod, battery (and most importantly spare) charged, time for the action!

This is where your creativity is more important than the gear you have, I know of someone that had all sorts of expensive equipment, yet he was so focused on it around him when he was filming his final videos looked less than professional!

So put a little thought into your scene and try and tell a story, I usually have a rough scenario in mind and film a start, middle and ending, for example;

Start - Set the scene, maybe posing on the bed in some sexy gear, with a close up of the bulge in my shorts, or walking through the woods on a summer’s day.

Middle - pissing all over my sexy gear then stripping naked for some good dildo action, stopping from time to time to move the camera to get different angles, i.e. wide angle and close up shots that can be edited later to give added interest and a more professional look.

Ending - a close up cum shot, then a wide view to reveal the look of satisfaction on my face, with this scene held for a few extra seconds in order to fade the footage at the end.

As mentioned above it’s great to move the camera position from time to time to get different views and add interest, always give yourself a few extra second before reaching for the stop button after a scene as this will give you more leeway when editing the footage together.

Have a rough idea of what you want to film but let the scene develop naturally for a more spontaneous feel.

Don’t forget the audio either, this is just as important as vision, I hate it when guys stay silent in their videos as you really can’t tell if they are enjoying it, don’t go over the top but a little verbal and a few moans of pleasure will really help make your videos more erotic!

Oh and talking of audio, make sure the radio or TV is turned off! I watched a very well filmed video yet the massive TV in the background was an visual and distraction that totally killed the scene!

Editing

Spend a little time doing some basic editing on your movie, is where you can polish your production and just give it a professional edge. Most systems come with a basic movie editing software, even if it’s just to cut the bit where you pressed record before setting up the camera and give a nice fade to the ending.

Be wary of over use of traditions and effects, less if definitely more, that spinning zig-zag transition may look cool but will end up just being jarring, the trick is to make the editing pretty unnoticeable so err on the side of caution and just stick to the cross dissolve between scenes to begin with if needed.

Firstly do a rough edit - place your scenes in the timeline, If you’ve filed a few different angles then you can start with a wide shot of the action before cutting to a close up, then maybe a facial expression shot. Have a little idea of these different shots as you film to give your movie that extra touch of class!

Once you’ve got the rough order of clips edit out any wobbly bits where you moved the camera or a scene goes on for too long, try and keep it fluid and scenes short to maintain maximum interest.

Be wary of using music, again less is more! Although at low levels it can be very effective for creating a mood, don’t forget that many people may not share your exquisite musical taste, so putting that loud throbbing dance track over the entire movie may have your viewers clicking the ‘next’ button.

Advanced techniques

Once you’ve got the basics of a polished production why not experiment, maybe add a second camera so you can film a different angle of the same action, you could use it to get more creative with your shots, why not fix it above the bed for a direct down view or have in underneath you as that cock or dildo slides into your hole, or a second close up view of that spewing cum shot!

You can also get more creative with the lighting, for example why not add some coloured LED lamps to create a totally different mood.
Most cameras have a slow motion mode so why not experiment with this in a few scenes, especially the money shot!

Why not create a logo or title theme to give your works a consistent recognisable brand.

I hope this has helped give you a few tips on movie making, why not watch a few of your favourite professional porn movies (I know it’s a tough job!) take notice of the editing, how different scenes are cut to flow seamlessly together for ideas on how to make your movies a cut above the rest!
